What is the difference between a fountain pen and the Monteverde® Mega™ Ink●Ball™ system?
The fountain pen has a breathing hole in the nib. The Monteverde ® Ink●Ball™ system features an internal breathing ring. Just dip the Ink●Ball™ tip in a favorite bottle of ink and draw the ink into the threaded ink converter…just like a fountain pen.
What is the difference between a rollerball pen and the Monteverde® Mega™ Ink●Ball™ system?
The Monteverde® Mega™ Ink●Ball™ does have a tungsten-carbide rolling ball in the tip which will perform exceptionally well through many ink refillings. Since the Ink●Ball™ uses liquid ink it can remain uncapped without drying out.
Why does the Mega™ Ink●Ball™ come with 3 extra point sections?
The Monteverde® Mega™ Ink●Ball™ system makes changing ink colors as easy as changing a light bulb. The Mega™ kit includes a total of 4-point sections (since there is one already on the pen). This will give the writer about 4 kilometers of writing.
Does Monteverde® sell extra point sections?
Mega™ Ink●Ball™ point sections are sold in packs of 3 for $30.00 ($10.00 EACH). MV34500P – BLACK; MV34501P – BURGUNDY
What happens when the Ink●Ball™ point section needs to be replaced?
Over time, the tungsten-carbide ball inside the feed tube will wear. Mechanically, a gap will form. The result will be a scratchy writing experience.
Will a standard international ink cartridge fit the Monteverde® Mega™ Ink●Ball™ system?
Yes, they install in back of the point section just like a fountain pen. The Mega™ Ink●Ball™ kit includes 2 ink cartridges.
Will the Mega™ Ink●Ball™ accept alternatives to fountain pen inks such as acrylics, oils and India inks?
No, Mega™ Ink●Ball™ is engineered to give the best possible performance between a rollerball and a fountain pen. We recommend using fountain pen inks only.
Will Ink●Ball™ technology be applied to more sizes and shapes other than the two Mega™ pens currently available?
Yes, Ink●Ball™ is the first new technological breakthrough in the luxury pen industry in the last 50 years! This remarkable new way of writing will be applied to many different styles of writing instruments for many years to come.
